I Have Turned to the Minister of Justice Regarding the Situation of Archbishop Mikayel Ajapahyan: Tovmasyan
This morning, I have officially turned to the Minister of Justice of Armenia regarding the unacceptable situation surrounding Archbishop Mikayel Ajapahyan. This was announced by National Assembly member Taguhi Tovmasyan on her Facebook page.
“The Archbishop has been deprived of the opportunity to participate in the Sunday service and receive Holy Communion, even in hospital conditions where he is serving a sentence due to health issues. This is not merely an 'organizational problem'; it is a gross violation of religious freedom. The Constitution of Armenia and the European Convention on Human Rights mandate the state not to restrict but to ensure this right,” wrote National Assembly member Taguhi Tovmasyan.
