Sanctions Will Remain in Effect Until Maduro Returns Stolen American Assets, Says Hegseth
The blockade on oil tankers will remain in effect as long as Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro's criminal organization does not return the stolen American assets. This was announced by U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth.
According to him, President Donald Trump has indicated that the blockade on oil tankers leaving or heading to Venezuela will remain in force until Maduro's “criminal organization” returns all stolen American assets.
Washington emphasizes that the focus is on combating illegal drug trafficking, violence, and organized crime. The U.S. side added that its approach aims to maintain security in the Western Hemisphere and ensure regional stability through coordinated actions with international partners.
