Train Loaded with Azerbaijani Gasoline Arrives at Armenia's Ayrum Station
A train loaded with Azerbaijani gasoline, dispatched from Azerbaijan through Georgian territory, has arrived at the Ayrum railway station in Armenia. This was reported by a correspondent from Armenpress from the Ayrum station.
Sergo Mkrtchyan, head of the Vanadzor division of South Caucasus Railways, noted in an interview with Armenpress that since 1988, Armenia has not received any type of oil products from Azerbaijan, making this the first train with 22 wagons. The shipment includes A-95 gasoline weighing 1218 tons.
Mkrtchyan also detailed the procedures that will be carried out at the Ayrum station after the train's arrival, before the cargo is released. He stated, "After the arrival of the train, since it is not considered an EEU cargo, the shipment will definitely undergo customs inspection. The inspection is conducted as follows: the high-voltage electrical connections of the train are disconnect, the hatches of the cisterns are opened, and customs officials take measurements and samples to check the quality and quantity. After the documents are verified at the station and customs service, the cargo is prepared for dispatch. This process takes approximately 2 hours."
He elaborated that 11 wagons of the train would depart from the Ayrum station towards the Yerevan railway station, while the remaining 11 wagons would head to the Karmir Blur railway station. Earlier, Armenia's Minister of Economy, Gevorg Papoyan, commented on the import of Azerbaijani gasoline on Facebook, emphasizing that this marks the first trade and economic transaction between Armenia and Azerbaijan since the country gained independence.
