If the EU Previously Funded Democracy in Armenia, Now It Supports Autocracy: Ashotyan
In the past, the Armenian government received financial and technical support from the European Union for electoral reforms to ensure transparency in elections and enhance technical capabilities, making them more democratic, free, and fair. This was stated by Armen Ashotyan, the Vice President of the Republican Party of Armenia.
He emphasized, “The agenda of appealing to the EU before elections by this regime, justifying it as a fight against political opponents, is not only a disgrace from the perspective of sovereignty, it is also a blatant interference in our internal affairs and a unique act of supporting autocracy by the EU. If the EU previously funded democracy in Armenia, now it supports autocracy.”
