EU Cannot Solely Finance Ukraine's Reconstruction: Marta Kos
The European Union will not be able to finance Ukraine's reconstruction on its own; private investments will be necessary. This statement was made by EU Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos during a meeting of EU foreign ministers.
"We are currently in the phase of finalizing financing for Ukraine. However, reconstruction will be impossible without the involvement of private funds. The European Commission needs a secure investment environment in Ukraine, and everyone must believe that investing in Ukraine is not dangerous. Anti-corruption measures are essential for that purpose," Kos stated, commenting on the ongoing corruption scandals in Ukraine.
According to the program presented by the European Commission, approximately €210 billion worth of frozen Russian assets in the EU are expected to be utilized for Ukraine's current expenses in 2026-2027, should military actions continue and for the purpose of army restoration should peace be established.
