Smartphones and Electronic Devices Banned in Yerevan Schools: New Details
The Yerevan Municipality reports that the use of smartphones and other electronic devices has been banned in several schools. The announcement states: 'Such initiatives have long proven their effectiveness in many countries. Research has shown that limiting phone use during class increases students' performance by an average of 6–14%. Moreover, the mere presence of a phone, even if it is not being used, reduces attention levels, while under restriction conditions, students are able to focus longer and better.'
It continues: 'The use of smart devices is only permitted for educational purposes, as instructed by the teacher, for example, to utilize QR codes in textbooks.'
It is worth recalling that earlier it was reported that, at the initiative of the Mayor of Yerevan, the use of smartphones and electronic devices has been banned in 143 out of the 151 community schools in Yerevan.
