New Tensions Between Thailand and Cambodia: Naval and Aerial Operations Launched
The Royal Thai Navy has begun naval and aerial operations near the border with Cambodia. This was reported by The Nation Thailand, citing the command of border forces located in Trat province. The operation is named 'Trat Prap Porapak' ('Trat Presses the Enemy'). It is being conducted amid rising tensions with Cambodia.
The publication states that 'the entire crew has been brought to full combat readiness, and the ship's weapon systems are fully armed and prepared to respond to any escalation of the conflict.' The naval forces have also urged Thai fishing boats to avoid navigating close to the Thai-Cambodian maritime border and have requested fishermen to immediately report any sightings of Cambodian military vessels.
Additionally, Thai Prime Minister and Interior Minister Anuthin Charnvirakul announced the suspension of the peace agreement with Cambodia after two Thai soldiers were injured due to a mine explosion on the border. He emphasized that the incident demonstrates the ongoing border animosity, making further steps in the agreement impossible until circumstances are clarified.
