Yerevan Has Had Issues with Nubarashen Landfill for 75 Years, Says Avinyan
For the Erebuni-Yerevan celebrations, we have spent slightly more than last year's figures, and when we have completed everything, we will provide all media with the information. This was stated by Yerevan Mayor Tigran Avinyan during a briefing with journalists following today’s government meeting.
Speaking about the issue of constructing a new recycling plant at the Nubarashen landfill, the mayor said, “When we talk about the Nubarashen landfill, the first observation we need to make is that the city of Yerevan has had this issue for 75 years already. I am even sure that there were some discussions during the Soviet Union about seeking solutions, but nothing was done.”
He continued, “What we are doing is moving forward in three parallel directions. The first direction is that we are announcing a two-phase competition, which states the following: dear companies with experience in building and managing waste recycling plants, please provide your proposals for the first phase, after which we will finalize and set the competition for the second phase of the final recycling plant.”
The second process is that together with the Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure, we are trying to find a way with our international financial partners for the same purpose, and we emphasize that we will go in the direction that will lead us to a solution in a faster and more efficient manner.
And the third issue that has been raised is that we need to present a new project related to a certain preliminary recycling process of the existing Nubarashen landfill,” he stated.
