US Halts Memorandums of Understanding Signed Under Biden Administration

The United States has informed European countries that it is halting the memorandums of understanding in the field of combating disinformation from third countries, according to the British newspaper Financial Times, citing European officials.

Previously, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced the dissolution of the Global Engagement Center (GEC), which was a State Department center aimed at countering 'foreign disinformation,' including messages about alleged propaganda coming from Russia.

"European countries have been notified by the State Department that the United States is halting the memorandums of understanding signed under the Biden administration, which were intended to create a unified approach for exposing and countering malicious information disseminated by foreign governments," the publication states.
