Protests Erupt in France as Emmanuel Macron Set to Appoint New Prime Minister
French President Emmanuel Macron will discuss the appointment of a new prime minister in the coming days following a vote of no confidence against the current government. This was stated in a statement from the Élysée Palace.
“The President of the Republic takes into account the results of the parliamentary vote. Tomorrow, he will accept the resignation of Prime Minister François Bayrou and his government. The President will appoint a new prime minister in the coming days,” the statement read.
It is worth noting that a majority of members of the French National Assembly (the lower house of Parliament) voted against confidence in the government's plans following Prime Minister Bayrou's programmatic speech.
