Lilit Makunts to be Appointed Chief Advisor to the Prime Minister
The former U.S. Ambassador to Armenia, Lilit Makunts, will be appointed as the Chief Advisor to the Prime Minister. This was announced by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan during a press briefing following the government meeting.
Makunts was appointed as Armenia's Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the U.S. on August 2, 2021. After the end of her term, she was recalled from her ambassadorial position by order of the President of Armenia on August 27.
During Nikol Pashinyan's government, Lilit Makunts served as the leader of the ruling coalition in the National Assembly and later as the Minister of Culture.
It is also worth noting that she has been replaced in the U.S. by the former Minister of Labor and Social Affairs, Narek Mkrtchyan, while Arsen Torosyan has taken over the ministerial position.
