Georgia Should Not Physically or Mentally Harm Itself on the Path to EU Membership, Papuashvili
If the European Union wants to be a peaceful project, it should not demand that Georgia ruin its relations with Russia. This statement was made by the Speaker of the Georgian Parliament, Shalva Papuashvili.
“I will explain once again. If you want to be a peaceful project, you should not demand a country that has gone through three wars to exacerbate its relations with Russia, as Brussels has done,” Papuashvili wrote on his Facebook page.
As noted by Papuashvili, Georgia should not physically and mentally harm itself on the path to EU membership. He emphasized that just because the European Union was created for peace does not automatically mean that it brings peace. “For the EU to be a peaceful project, it should not fund extremism, engage in slander, and encroach upon Georgia's millennial values,” stated Papuashvili.
It is recalled that yesterday the EU delegation in Georgia made a post on Facebook claiming that the EU was created for peace and that Georgia's aspirations for EU membership meant that the country would become part of that peace project.
