First Court Hearing in the Case of Archbishop Mikael Ajapahyan
The first court hearing in the case of Archbishop Mikael Ajapahyan, the head of the Shirak Diocese, is taking place at the Avan premises of the Yerevan court of first instance.
The defense council of Mikael Surbazan has stated that the question of changing or revoking the measures against Mikael Surbazan will also be examined during the hearings.
The case of Archbishop Mikael Ajapahyan has been assigned to Judge Armine Serzhiki Meliksetyan.
"I am Archbishop Mikael Ajapahyan, I am not Gevorg Ajapahyan. 99 percent of people recognize me as Archbishop Mikael Ajapahyan. Please, address me as Archbishop Mikael Ajapahyan and not Gevorg Ajapahyan," stated the head of the Shirak Diocese, Mikael Surbazan, in response after the judge read his personal details.
It is noteworthy that Archbishop Mikael Ajapahyan has been charged with making public calls aimed at seizing power during periodic public speeches and interviews given to mass media.
