U.S. President Donald Trump is considering the possibility of deploying up to 1,000 National Guard troops in Washington to ensure security in the city and combat crime, NBC reports, citing military sources and two officials.
The National Guard will be restricted to protecting federal agency employees and their property, without directly participating in law enforcement activities.
Earlier, Donald Trump announced on social media that he plans to clean up the streets of the American capital. Initially, he aims to remove the homeless, followed by incarcerating all criminals.
It is worth noting that U.S. President Donald Trump had stated on his Truth Social page that "street crime has turned Washington into one of the most dangerous cities in the world."
