Zakharova Comments on UN's New Report with Poetry
Maria Zakharova, the official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia, has quoted a poem by Vladimir Mayakovsky on her Telegram channel while commenting on the UN's new report.
In her post, she included a passage from the poem "Prozasedavshisya," where the poet develops the theme of bureaucratic working days, highlighting with clear irony that nothing significant is decided in bureaucratic meetings.
"You cannot sleep with excitement. It is early morning. I welcome the early dawn with a dream," Zakharova quoted.
Previously, Reuters reported that according to the UN report, which is dedicated to finding ways to improve efficiency and cut costs, few read the organization's reports. UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres stated that only 5% of the most popular reports are downloaded more than 5,500 times, while each fifth report is downloaded less than 1,000 times. Moreover, downloads do not necessarily indicate reading, the Secretary-General noted.
