What to Expect in the Court of Appeals for MP Arthur Sargsyan
The appeal against the two-month detention of MP Arthur Sargsyan from the 'Armenia' faction has been assigned to Judge Robert Papoyan of the Court of Appeals of the Republic of Armenia. Reports have emerged from the judicial system that Judge Papoyan is unlikely to grant the appeal from Sargsyan's defenders, and the MP will remain in custody.
This information was reported by the 'Haykakan Zhamanak' newspaper. Yesterday, the same Judge Robert Papoyan ordered the detention of Ara Rostomyan, the father of a deceased individual, who was also detained as part of the criminal proceedings concerning the 'Coup Plan.'
It is noteworthy that Arthur Sargsyan is charged under Article 43-308 (Preparation of Terrorism) and Article 43-419 (Preparation for Seizure of Power) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia. Arthur Sargsyan denies the charges and considers the ongoing processes against him as political persecution.
