Zakhrova on Relations with Azerbaijan and Detained Russians
Maria Zakharova, the official representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, has stated that the release of Russians detained by Baku would be a significant step towards normalizing relations between Russia and Azerbaijan.
“At this moment, bilateral relations with Azerbaijan are, to say the least, in a difficult phase. Russia strives to ensure that they do not stagnate, and we hope for a quick resolution. A significant step in this direction would be the release of those Russian citizens who continue to be held by the Azerbaijani authorities,” she said during a press briefing.
It is noteworthy that a protest note has been handed to Rakhman Mustafayev, the Azerbaijani ambassador in Moscow, demanding the immediate release of Russian journalists detained in Baku. This was reported by the Russian Foreign Ministry.
