Enhanced Security in Sardarapat as Pashinyan Arrives at Memorial
On the road leading to the Sardarapat Memorial, police have been implementing enhanced security measures since the morning of May 28. It is expected that Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan will visit the memorial with the government elite.
The Armenian people celebrate the Day of the First Republic of Armenia on May 28. On this day in 1918, Armenian statehood, which had been disrupted for centuries, was restored. In May, Armenian regular forces and volunteers achieved victories against Turkish marauders in lethal battles in Qarakilisa, Bash-Aparan, and Sardarapat, halting their advance and their desire to completely occupy Armenia.
