The Condition of Armenian Prisoners Held in Azerbaijan is a Priority: Michael O'Flaherty
The condition of Armenian prisoners held in Azerbaijan is a priority. This was stated by Michael O'Flaherty, the Commissioner for Human Rights of the Council of Europe, during a plenary session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE).
He closely monitors the conditions in which Armenian prisoners are held in Baku and the ordeals they are subjected to, as reported by RIA Novosti.
"I am in discussions with the Azerbaijani government to arrange a visit to Baku. This takes time for both them and me," he said. He emphasized that he has approached the Azerbaijani authorities twice to request a visit to the country. "I will make a third and fourth attempt. I am determined to go to this country and engage with human rights issues on its territory," he underlined.
