UN Security Council Approves US Resolution on Ukraine
The UN Security Council has approved a US-proposed resolution regarding Ukraine, rejecting all amendments, reports a correspondent from RIA Novosti.
The resolution received votes in favor from ten countries, including Russia, China, and the United States, with five abstentions. No votes were cast against it.
The authors of the resolution expressed their "deep regret over the tragic human losses during the conflict between the Russian Federation and Ukraine." They stated that the primary goal of the UN is "to maintain international peace and security and to resolve disputes peacefully," calling for an immediate cessation of hostilities and the establishment of "sustainable peace between Ukraine and the Russian Federation." However, the document was adopted in its original form, and Russian amendments were also rejected. One of those amendments called on Moscow to eliminate the "root causes" of the crisis.
