New Statement on Pope Francis' Health Condition
Pope Francis' health has shown some improvement, according to a statement from the Vatican press office, although the condition of the 88-year-old pontiff is still rated as extremely serious.
On Sunday, reports emerged that doctors were concerned for Francis' life due to respiratory and kidney issues. However, it was later clarified that the "minor issues related to the kidneys" are not a cause for alarm.
“Today, there have been no recorded asthma attacks for the Pope, and some of the analysis results have improved,” it was stated in the Vatican's evening report on the pontiff's health.
The report also mentioned that he has partially resumed his duties by calling a priest from a Catholic parish in the Gaza Strip to express “paternal closeness.” However, it is noted that the pontiff spent much of the day with an oxygen mask to ease his breathing. Nevertheless, doctors are "still carefully refraining from making predictions."
