Putin Ready for Negotiations with Zelensky, Peskov Says
Russian President Vladimir Putin is prepared to negotiate with Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky, but it is essential to consider the "legal aspects of his legitimacy." This statement was made by Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary of the President of Russia.
“Putin has repeatedly stated that he will negotiate with Zelensky if necessary. At the same time, the legal formalization of any agreements is subject to serious discussion, considering the reality that raises the possibility of disputing Zelensky's legitimacy,” Peskov told reporters.
It should be noted that Vladimir Zelensky's five-year term officially ends on May 21, 2024, and due to martial law, presidential elections have not been held in the country.
