New Fabricated Charges Against Ruben Vardanyan
Today in Baku, the illegal trial of Ruben Vardanyan, the former Prime Minister of Artsakh, continued with fabricated charges. During this judicial farce, the General Prosecutor's Office of Azerbaijan presented “charges” against Vardanyan.
Specifically, he is accused of initiating a terrorist operation, dubbed “Nemesis-2,” against Azerbaijani diplomats abroad. The indictment also claims that in September 2022, he “illegally” crossed the “state border of Azerbaijan” and entered the “economic region of Azerbaijan in Nagorno-Karabakh,” where “Russian peacekeepers were temporarily stationed.”
It is important to note that earlier reports indicated that Vardanyan announced in the Baku court today that he is refusing the state-provided defense lawyer and that he will only rely on his contracted attorney, Abraham Berman, to safeguard his rights.
