Russia Ready to Assist Yerevan and Baku: Statement from the Russian Embassy
The Russian Ambassador to Armenia, Sergey Kopirkin, has confirmed the Russian side's determination to support the normalization of relations between Yerevan and Baku.
According to him, Moscow prioritizes regional security issues in the agenda of Armenian-Russian bilateral dialogue. “Russia is determined to provide all necessary assistance in the normalization of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan, particularly in the development of trilateral agreements reached by the leaders of Russia, Armenia, and Azerbaijan during 2020-2022, including the drafting of balanced and mutually acceptable provisions for a peace treaty, as well as the demarcation and delimitation of borders,” the report from the Russian Federation states.
He noted that Russian-Armenian alliance relations are adapting to new realities in the region and the world, yet the key element remains the conviction of both sides that close strategic partnership corresponds to the fundamental interests of both countries and fraternal peoples.
Kopirkin mentioned that this stance was reaffirmed during the negotiations between Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan held in Moscow on January 21.
He added that Russian-Armenian trade and economic relations are evolving, and Russia firmly maintains its position as Armenia's main external trade and investment partner.
“Cultural and humanitarian ties, cooperation in education, and interpersonal communications remain crucial components of our relations, in which compatriot organizations play a significant role,” stated Kopirkin.
