Biden Signs Law Extending Government Funding

U.S. President Joe Biden has signed a law that temporarily extends federal government funding, according to a statement posted on the White House website. The document will ensure the operation of the U.S. government until March 14, 2025.

The signed law provides for over $100 billion in allocations for disaster relief efforts. The U.S. Senate passed it with delays that caused the government to officially shut down. Prior to this, the bill had also been approved by the House of Representatives. A total of 366 lawmakers voted in favor of the measure, while 34 voted against it.

The demand from newly-elected President Donald Trump to raise the debt ceiling was removed from the document. He insisted that his party should not agree to the deal unless it included an increase in the ceiling.
