Azerbaijan Detains Military Expert for Filming Positions Near Armenia Border
Azerbaijan has detained military expert Adalyat Veliev for filming military positions near the Armenian border. Local media reports this development.
The Prosecutor General's Office of Azerbaijan has initiated a criminal case against Adalyat Veliev, who was in the positions (in the Kheyrimli region) on November 22 and subsequently posted footage on social media. He filmed the heights of the combat positions of the country's armed forces and the locations of border guard troops, sharing the video on his social media page.
He is charged with causing serious harm to the country's interests, national security, and defense capabilities. A preventive measure of detention has been chosen against him.
It is notable that Kheyrimli is one of the four non-enclave villages in the Tavush region. On April 20, 2024, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced that Kheyrimli village would be handed over to Azerbaijan, with a delimitation commission being formed for this purpose.
