They Went So Far That They Ignored Putin's Warnings: Peskov
Russia's presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated in an interview with journalist Pavel Zarubin that President Vladimir Putin has sent a signal to the West that Russia will respond to Ukrainian attacks using Western long-range weapons. The interview was published on Zarubin's Telegram channel.
“He sent a very clear, unequivocal signal. There was hope that he would be heard,” Peskov said. He also explained why President Joe Biden's administration nevertheless decided to allow long-range strikes into Russian territory in spite of Putin’s warning: “There was such a mix of madness—decision-makers, the nature of their war party, and the thirst for internal political revenge. All these factors combined in Washington. They went so far that they ignored Putin’s warnings,” Peskov stated.
According to him, tough measures are required from Putin in response. On November 17, President Joe Biden allowed Ukraine to use ATACMS missiles for strikes against Russian territory for the first time. On November 20, The Times reported that the U.S. had permitted Ukraine to use British Storm Shadow missiles to strike deep into Russia.
