Turkey's Expectations from the United States
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan met with reporters on his return from Hungary. Erdoğan discussed U.S.-Turkey relations in the context of the American presidential election results, where Donald Trump emerged victorious.
“As Turkey, our expectations from our ally, the United States, are well known. In particular, we have encountered issues such as the Palestinian problem and the Russia-Ukraine crisis, among various other challenges. Turkey-U.S. cooperation can overcome these,” he stated.
Additionally, the Turkish leader expressed hope that under Trump's administration, ongoing conflicts and crises at both regional and global levels would come to an end. “We have worked with the esteemed Trump during his previous presidency as well. Even if there are occasional disagreements, the model of partnership between Turkey and the U.S. is not up for debate,” Erdoğan concluded.
