These Maps Are Not the Only Ones to Use in the Demarcation Process: Grigoryan
We must understand what we mean by the maps of Armenia: these are the maps of the General Staff, which were compiled between 1974 and 1978 and came into effect from 1979. This was stated by Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan during a conversation with reporters.
Grigoryan noted that these maps are not the only ones to be used in the demarcation process. “There are questions that are not included in those maps. Essentially, these maps are comprehensive, but I cannot reveal more details about it right now,” he explained.
He also clarified what demarcation means. “Since the term demarcation does not exist in our legislation, it can mean the process of restoring the border,” he added.
Responding to the question of what guarantees exist that Azerbaijan will complete the process, Grigoryan stated, “We have discussed the draft regulation quite extensively, after which the parties signed it. Prior to that, they signed the working protocol. Today, we have signed the current regulation. You are asking, what is the guarantee? What kind of guarantee are you talking about, how do you envision what the guarantee should be?”
