We Must Be Prepared for That: Peskov
The statements by German intelligence suggesting that Russia may pose a threat in the next decade by potentially attacking NATO are illogical and unjust, especially considering all the waves of NATO's expansion towards Russian borders. This was stated by Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary of the Russian president, during a press briefing, commenting on the statement made by Bruno Kahl, the head of Germany's intelligence service, in the German parliament.
“We all are well aware of all the waves of NATO's expansion and all those steps when NATO’s infrastructure approached the borders of the Russian Federation. We must be prepared for that. There is a clear understanding here of who poses a threat to whom,” said the Kremlin representative.
“To suggest that the Russian armed forces pose a threat to someone is absolutely wrong, illogical, and importantly, contradicts the entire course of history that has led to the confrontation we are all experiencing together now,” added the press secretary of the Russian leader.
