What is the Obstacle in Armenia-Turkey Relations: Rubinyan
There is one major obstacle in Armenia-Turkey relations, which is the lack of political will in Turkey to regulate relations with Armenia, stated Ruben Rubinyan, the special representative for the normalization of Armenian-Turkish relations, during a conference titled 'Peace Crossroad: Connecting Security and Democracy.'
"It is essential that the process of normalizing Armenia-Turkey relations remains between the two states. Regulation and reconciliation are two different things. These are deep topics. In Turkey, there is a misconception that the Armenian diaspora or the position of the Armenian diaspora has been or continues to be an obstacle in the path of normalizing Armenia-Turkey relations. This is not the case. It has been proven many times that this is not the case. The major obstacle is the lack of political decision in Turkey regarding the regulation of relations with Armenia," Rubinyan said.
