Calling Them Prisoners of War is Unacceptable: Hajizade
The Azerbaijani Ministry of Foreign Affairs has condemned the resolutions of the Dutch parliament calling for the release of representatives of the former leadership of Nagorno-Karabakh and statements made by Foreign Minister Kaspar Veldkamp. "Calling them prisoners of war is unacceptable," stated the spokesman for the Azerbaijani Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Aykan Hajizade, deeming these claims biased.
Hajizade also asserted that the Dutch authorities are distorting Baku's objectives regarding the attack on Nagorno-Karabakh in 2023. He accused Amsterdam of allegedly pursuing a policy of double standards. Additionally, he criticized the accusations directed at Baku for the destruction of Armenian cultural heritage as unacceptable.
"We urge the Dutch side to abandon a unilateral position that contradicts peace in the region and creates tension in Azerbaijan-Dutch relations," the Azerbaijani foreign ministry spokesperson declared.
