Deputy Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructures Dismissed
The Deputy Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructures, Hakob Vardanyan, has been relieved of his duties at his own request. This information was shared by the spokesperson for the minister, Sona Harutyunyan, on her Facebook page.
Vardanyan had been appointed to this position in June 2018. Prior to this role, he had served in high-ranking positions at the Electric Networks of Armenia, Tashir Group, and High Voltage Electricity Networks.
Previously, it was reported that the resignation of the Deputy Minister of Environment was related to the resignation request of Garegin Baghramyan, the head of the Public Services Regulatory Commission. Baghramyan announced his resignation on October 10.
Recent news indicated that the decisions regarding the resignations of these high-ranking officials were influenced by discussions in the National Assembly concerning existing issues in electricity supply, as well as significant dissatisfaction and lack of confidence from the authorities towards the leaders in the electricity sector.
