We Will Remain in Power in 2026, Need to Think About the Next 2031 Elections - Pashinyan
The newspaper "Haykakan Zhamanak" reports that Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has assured his colleagues that they will win the upcoming parliamentary elections in 2026 without any obstacles. He mentioned that only technical and organizational issues remain to be resolved. Furthermore, he urged his associates to start thinking about the next elections in 2031.
According to information from "Haykakan Zhamanak," members of the ruling Civil Contract Party have recently expressed serious concerns that their ratings have sharply declined against the backdrop of various security challenges facing Armenia during their time in power. They fear that this deterioration could lead to significant problems in gathering the necessary votes to secure re-election in 2026.
Nonetheless, Pashinyan reassured his colleagues that there is no need for concern, stating that they will remain in power and will win the elections in 2026 without any obstacles. Instead, he encouraged them to focus on preparations for the 2031 elections.
The newspaper inquired about whether Pashinyan had provided such assurances during internal party meetings, asking Civil Contract MP Armen Khachatryan. "Such a topic has not been discussed. We can only have confidence in the election results after they are counted. This applies to any elections; even having such confidence an hour before the election is, in my opinion, wrong," he said.
