VIDEO: Why Solovyov Suggested the Resignation of the Supreme Leader
Television presenter Vladimir Solovyov, during the September 22 broadcast of his program “Evening with Vladimir Solovyov” on the Russia-1 channel, suggested that the country’s Supreme Leader should submit his resignation.
Some media outlets have presented this segment out of the overall context, which essentially distorts the general idea. “There are explosions happening deeply in our territory. Let’s speak frankly, let’s stop pretending that it’s just debris from drones that are blowing up here and there. It’s also important that when we speak the truth, we shouldn’t act foolishly. Various citizens are sharing videos online about drone strikes, and we have another group of fools who are downloading these same videos, claiming that it’s better for us to spread them rather than the enemy’s soldiers. I have a question: where are they getting such videos from?” said the Russian presenter.
According to Solovyov, imprisoning those who publish such information is not enough. “It doesn’t matter what color the cat is, what matters is that it catches mice. Let’s move on to concrete solutions. If the resignation of the Supreme Leader is necessary for that... well, it’s unrealistic for me to make such decisions on my salary,” Solovyov remarked. He suggested drawing from the experiences of great eras and solving the issues with the methods that are “necessary here and now.” For more details, watch the video.
