Sashik Sargsyan and 'Liska's' Sons Acquitted
Two years after the clashes near the third government building, a criminal case regarding mass unrest was initiated, leading to charges against three individuals. The court had imposed detention on Haik Sargsyan, the nephew of Armenia's third president, Serzh Sargsyan, for allegedly using violence against a police officer. Tigran Khachatryan, the son of former Syunik governor Surik Khachatryan, was also detained in this case, facing similar charges of violence against a police officer. They were later released from detention.
According to Tigran Khachatryan's lawyer Benik Galstyan, there is no longer a criminal case regarding the charges. He informed Haykakan Zhamanak that the prosecution against both individuals has been terminated on grounds of acquittal: “There were many defendants in this case; for some, the case is still being examined in court. A decision was made to terminate the criminal prosecution regarding my client, Tigran Khachatryan, on grounds of acquittal. The same applies to Haik Sargsyan, in his case, the only testimony was from a police officer who claimed to have seen both of them committing the act.”
