Why Kocharian is Not Attending the Court Hearing: Clarifications from His Office
Today, September 23, a court hearing is taking place involving the second President of Armenia, Robert Kocharian.
Yerevan.Today contacted the head of the second president's office, Bagrat Mikoyan, to find out why President Kocharian is not attending the court session.
“President Kocharian did not receive a notification regarding today’s court hearing,” said Bagrat Mikoyan. “Currently, the president is abroad on a private visit, which he commenced on September 18, prior to the scheduling of the hearing. In the coming days, the president will return and will appear in court in case of an appropriate notification,” added the head of the president's office.
It is worth mentioning that the judge is Sargis Petrosyan, who was nominated as a parliamentary candidate on the 'My Step' alliance list during the snap parliamentary elections in 2018 but was not elected. Additionally, it should be noted that the case concerning the alleged overthrow of the constitutional order was dismissed on constitutional grounds, but the Supreme Court annulled the case on September 12 and appointed a new hearing under different articles.
