Ukrainian Oligarch Igor Kolomoisky Stripped of Cypriot Citizenship
The government of Cyprus has stripped Ukrainian oligarch Igor Kolomoisky of his citizenship. This has been reported by Cypriot media outlets. The authorities stated that Kolomoisky concealed certain facts of his biography when applying for citizenship, and granting him citizenship posed and continues to pose a threat to the republic's reputation.
Specifically, the Immigration Department noted that in his 2010 citizenship application, Kolomoisky failed to disclose that he had been the subject of a criminal case in Russia two years earlier related to tax evasion. Similar charges have also been brought against him in Ukraine.
It is worth mentioning that Igor Kolomoisky is currently in custody in Ukraine. He faces accusations of money laundering, transferring approximately $12.5 billion abroad from 2013 to 2020, embezzling $233 million from Privatbank, and orchestrating a murder in 2003.
