Demolition at Kirants Church: Ministry of Education and Science Addresses the Reasons
At the Saint Trinity Church in the village of Kirants, Tavush Province, previously installed elements that distorted the appearance of the monument have been dismantled. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the Republic of Armenia.
It was noted that this action was not coordinated with the ministry.
During a visit to the church, employees of the department for the protection of historical and cultural monuments of the ministry, along with the State Non-Commercial Organization for the protection of cultural heritage sites, agreed on the color of the stones to be used in the restoration, and instructions were provided regarding the methodology for carrying out the works.
"At the same time, the planned works outlined in the project, their sequence of implementation, and the landscaping activities have been discussed," the statement read.
The restoration of the church and the improvement of the surrounding area are expected to be completed by the end of the year.
