One Pilot Dies in Tu-22M3 Bomber Crash in Irkutsk Region
One of the pilots of the Tu-22M3 bomber that crashed in the Irkutsk region has died. This was announced by the governor of the Irkutsk region, Igor Kobzev, on his Telegram channel.
Kobzev noted that work at the site of the aviation accident continued throughout the night. He added that according to the military command of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, one of the pilots could not be saved. The governor expressed his sincere condolences to the family and friends of the pilot.
He also mentioned that the remaining crew members of the combat aircraft have been hospitalized with varying degrees of injuries. Additionally, according to Kobzev, the cause of the bomber's crash will be determined tomorrow.
The Tu-22M3 bomber crashed on August 15. The Ministry of Defense reported that all four pilots successfully abandoned the aircraft and their lives are not in danger. The aircraft was on a scheduled flight and crashed in a deserted area, with no casualties or damage reported on the ground. The governor stated that the accident occurred near the village of Mikhailovka in the Cheremkhovo region.
