Taiwan Records Approach of 9 Chinese PLA Ships and 18 Aircraft
The Taiwanese armed forces have reported that 18 aircraft and 9 ships from the People's Liberation Army (PLA) approached the island within a single day. This information was conveyed by the island's defense ministry, as reported by TASS.
According to the statement, 12 aircraft crossed the median line of the Taiwan Strait, entering the identification zones of the island's air defense forces in the southwestern and southeastern areas.
The Taiwanese military responded by utilizing aircraft, ships, and ground-based air defense missile systems to monitor the targets.
Taiwan has been governed by its own administration since 1949, when the remnants of the Kuomintang forces, led by Chiang Kai-shek (1887-1975), fled there after losing the Chinese Civil War. Beijing considers Taiwan one of its provinces within the People's Republic of China.
