Vahan Kerobyan Unable to Travel to the US as Court Rejects Motion
Former Minister of Economy Vahan Kerobyan is unable to travel to the United States to accompany his son, who has been admitted to an American university. Today, the Anti-Corruption Court, presided over by Judge Mary Mosinyan, rejected the motion put forth by the defense.
Kerobyan's lawyers had requested either to lift the restrictions placed on him or to allow him to be absent from Armenia for 15 days, or to amend the restriction to a more lenient measure by applying a bail of 2 million drams.
The court found that no substantial justification had been presented for Kerobyan's trip to the US. “The court decides to maintain the existing travel ban imposed on Vahan Kerobyan during the pre-trial investigation and to reject the defense's motion,” the judge announced.
It is noteworthy that Vahan Kerobyan had expressed a desire to accompany his son to the US from August 17 to 30 and then return to Armenia.
