Iran's Parliament Committee to Hold Emergency Session on Haniyeh's Assassination
The Iranian Parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Committee will hold an emergency session in Tehran regarding the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh, the head of the political bureau of the Palestinian Hamas radical movement. This was reported by the IRNA agency, citing committee spokesperson Ebrahim Rezaei.
He stated that the session will take place on July 31 in the second half of the day. “The matter is under investigation, and the National Security and Foreign Policy Committee will release relevant information regarding further actions and sessions,” Rezaei added.
It is noteworthy that Haniyeh, along with one of his bodyguards, was killed on July 31 in Tehran, where he was attending the inauguration ceremony of Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian. Prior to Haniyeh's assassination, Israel had struck Beirut, targeting one of the commanders of Hezbollah. The Beirut rocket attack also resulted in the deaths of three civilians, including two children and one woman.
