749 Arrested During Unrest in Venezuela
In Venezuela, following the presidential elections, 749 individuals have been arrested during the unrest, many of whom will face criminal charges for inciting hatred, terrorism, and blocking public roads, according to Attorney General Tarek William Saab.
"Currently, 749 such offenses have been detained," Saab's words are cited by NTN24.
The Attorney General noted that many of those arrested were armed and wore hats to conceal their faces.
Defense Minister Padrino López announced an attempt by the far-right opposition, with the support of the U.S. and its allies, to instigate a coup in the country.
The unrest began after Venezuela's electoral commission declared Nicolás Maduro the elected president for a six-year term.
