Israeli Foreign Minister Responds to Erdoğan's Threats
Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz has warned Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan about the possible consequences of an Israeli incursion. "Erdoğan is following in Saddam Hussein's footsteps and threatening to attack Israel. Let him remember what happened there (in Iraq) and how everything ended," Katz wrote on social media, supplementing his message with a photo collage of the current Turkish leader and the former Iraqi president.
Erdoğan had declared that Turkey could enter Israel, as it has done with other countries and regions in the past. Since the start of military operations by the Israeli army in the Gaza Strip, relations between Israel and Turkey have sharply deteriorated. In mid-July, Turkey's leader announced that his country would no longer agree to cooperation between NATO and Israel until stable peace is established in Palestinian territories.
