Meeting on Gaza Issues Starts in Rome
A meeting on the Gaza Strip has commenced in Rome, attended by the head of the Israeli intelligence service, the director of the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency, the Prime Minister of Qatar, and the head of Egypt's intelligence service. This information was reported by the Ynet portal.
Earlier, the office of the Israeli cabinet head announced that the head of the country's intelligence service, David Barnea, arrived in the Italian capital on Sunday to participate in negotiations aimed at advancing an agreement for the release of hostages in the Gaza Strip.
On May 31, U.S. President Joe Biden announced the terms of a new draft agreement for a phased peace settlement in the Gaza Strip. It is expected to last six weeks and will include discussions on a ceasefire, the release of Israeli hostages held by Hamas, and the release of Palestinian prisoners by Israel.
