On the opening day of the 33rd Summer Olympic Games in Paris, high-speed train operations were disrupted, affecting 800,000 passengers. Le Figaro reports that the French railway system was subjected to a "massive attack". The high-speed train network was paralyzed due to arson incidents along three lines: Atlantic, Northern, and Eastern.
France's Minister of Sports, Amélie Oudéa-Castéra, condemned the incidents, describing them as "sabotage" and stating that "playing against the Olympic Games is a game against France."
