Landslides in Ethiopia: Death Toll Exceeds 150
In southern Ethiopia, the death toll from two landslides has sharply risen, exceeding 150 people. This was reported by the head of the national disaster response agency in Goa, who announced on July 23 that the number of victims could continue to rise.
It is worth noting that on July 22, law enforcement officials reported that 50 people had died. This came after heavy rainfall overnight triggered the first landslide, which was followed by a second that completely buried those who had gathered to assist.
Reports indicate that among the deceased are women, children, and local police personnel.
