Head of U.S. Secret Service Resigns Over Trump Assassination Attempt
The head of the U.S. Secret Service, Kimberly Cheatle, has resigned following an assassination attempt against former President Donald Trump. This was reported by Fox News.
“Cheatle ignored calls for her resignation for several days, insisting she would not step down, instead appearing before Congress to answer questions from the American people,” the network stated.
However, after hearings in Congress, Cheatle decided to relinquish her authority, citing her personal miscalculations regarding the intelligence agency's operations. Cheatle had previously acknowledged the assassination attempt against Trump as the most significant failure of the Secret Service in recent years and accepted responsibility for the incident.
