Former Acting Head of Yerevan Municipality's Construction and Renovation Department Khoren Grigoryan Starts New Job at the National Assembly
The newspaper "Zhoghovurd" reports that Khoren Grigoryan, a member of the ruling Civil Contract party, has taken up a new position at the National Assembly months after being dismissed from the position of acting head of the Yerevan Municipality's construction and renovation department. Reports indicate that he has been appointed as an expert-coordinator in the National Assembly's Standing Committee on Human Rights Protection and Public Affairs.
It is worth recalling that Grigoryan was dismissed from his position in December 2023. "Zhoghovurd" previously reported that his dismissal was due not only to the mismanagement in the construction and renovation sector but also to disagreements within the municipality. It was noted that he had been unwilling to work under the authority of Deputy Mayor Levon Hovhannisyan, who was designated by Tigran Avinyan to oversee the civil construction sector. According to our sources, Hovhannisyan demanded that Grigoryan report to him and present all documents related to construction permits. Grigoryan was unhappy with this oversight, and after a dispute, he submitted his resignation.
After his departure, however, Grigoryan continued to actively support Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, posting on social media and occasionally attending Civil Contract meetings. We also reported that Grigoryan had donated 2 million drams to the party's fundraising event last year.
The news about Grigoryan's employment at the National Assembly was also confirmed by Grigoryan himself, who stated, "I am a professional ethnologist, and the committee deals with issues related to national and religious minorities, which directly require my professional support. I received a job offer from Rustam Bakoyan, the vice president of the corresponding committee, which I gladly accepted." Thus, Khoren Grigoryan, whose name has been at the center of numerous scandals within the corrupt system, will now be working on human rights issues.
